                       It was a hazy evening but I was hoping the sun would break through
                                                                         Unfortunately it didn't

                              This afternoon I decided to go shopping for clothes in the Waterfront
                              but soon lost interest and wandered outside in search of Haagen Dasz ice cream
                             and did a double take when I saw the sky /sunset ! Ofcourse I whipped my camera
                             out of my bag in seconds but had no tripod with me
                                 I will get a gorilla pod for my SLR
                                 I have a small one already for my Point and Shoot very handy
                               when I am at a concert for example or traveling

                                              

Aww ...if only I had had my tripod with me :(

Rising Sun (yacht)

The yacht is the 6th largest in the world with a length of almost 138 meters (453 ft).

 It reportedly cost over US$290 million to build.

Everything looked like it was brand new !

Capetonians are pretty blase about these kind of "touristy" shots

but not me Guv :) There are things I can never get enough off and this is one of them  :)

Just FYI...The yacht has :

82 rooms on five stories with a total living area said to be in excess of 8,000 square  Onyx countertops Jacuzzi bathrooms A gymnasium/spa and sauna An extensive wine cellar A master bath/bedroom an indoor swimming pool  A private cinema with a giant plasma screen 3,300 m² of teak-layered deck space  A basketball court on the main deck (can be used as a helicopter pad if necessary)

I had no tripod and the light was fading fast + the bridge

 I stood on,was wobbling with people stomping by :)

so I am surprised it came out at all !

 I got a reply from Delcampe to my report of the theft
 "We will close these sales and contact this member. However, to prevent such things from happening again, you could leave a mark on your images which makes it impossible for other people to use."

Cape Town we need your help to make it full house ! The biggest event in the Cape Town stadium before the WC starts

Deputy mayor Ian Neilson said the final test event, the Cape Town International Challenge, would "stretch the city to the limit" in testing its readiness for the soccer showpiece.

"I want to urge the people of Cape Town to attend this event in their numbers. We need your help to test the city's readiness to host the biggest event of all," he said.

Cape Town Stadium will host a final test event for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, when four national under-20 teams take part in the Cape Town International Challenge on April 10.

South Africa’s upcoming stars will take on their Nigerian counterparts at 1630 hours and current under-20 world champions, Ghana, will play ten-time champions, Brazil, at 1900 hours.

Tickets will cost R20 or R30 and will be available exclusively from Computicket. No tickets will be available at the gates.

V&A Waterfront

I took this shot on the way to the movies which I usually watch in one of the cinema's in the Waterfront

Hallelujah ! Prayers at the Cape Town Stadium

Around fifty thousand people attended a religious event at the Cape Town Stadium

 as part of a security test  at the stadium in preparation of the 2010 Soccer World

There was and is a hell of a wind blowing as you can see in these photos

which is ofcourse very strange since it is still summer here ..

Cape Town Stadium is set to host its third test event on Monday 22 March, during which all 55 000 permanent seats will be available for the first time.

The ‘Cape Town For Jesus’, a religious gathering addressed by well-known South African evangelist Angus Buchan, will focus on important issues surrounding the city and the World Cup™.

It will involve prayers and blessings for the stadium, city, province, country and its leaders, as well as all those involved in the World Cup™, such as the emergency services and youth.

Time: 13:00, gates open at 11:00

 I know now that when I see a lone cherry picker on the outisde of the facade at work,

 its really hectic on the inside .

I think this park will become very popular once it is finished

The trees still have a little growing to do

but the attraction of the water and the views all around are ofcourse out of this world

I just hope they can keep the vagrants out

They are digging trenches underneath the grass to lay more drainage pipes
when it  rained recently, the grass had become a swamp

This happens to be my view from my bed

and when I was lazily sipping my coffee in bed I could see

 the first cyclists already returning from their 2 and half hour Cape Argus Pick and Pay Tour

 If I moved my bed to the opposite wall I would see the stadium ..

I did consider it :) but the electric points are a problem !

With 35 000 participants, the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour is the world’s largest cycle race

and there is always a good turn out of watchers and onlookers, clapping and shouting their admiration

 I was idly watching the world go by, while drying my hair

 and getting ready to go to the Jazz Buffet at the Winchester Mansions

at 11 AM, when

I suddenly realised that the second smaller lake was also being filled !

Wow I will have to go and check it out up close,

it looks terrific !

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe this is called the Robinson Dry Dock

it is located within the boundaries of the V & A Waterfront 

I love the view of these ships You can even see them from town !

When I drive down from my shoot of the top of Signal Hill

you can see these ships from the Kloof Nek road

Quite amazing really

This yard has security ofcourse and is not open to the public

but a smile and a flutter of lashes opens most doors :)

I like to show you the photo of Majan A100

at 105 feet long she is one of the fastest elite offshore multi hulls in the world

Since I lived in Oman I was naturally interested to see her and the crew

but they were offbounds and  moored well away from the general public

I saw her many times sailing past from my house during her visit of Cape Town

 What a yacht !

there is allot of water again on the Common which is how it was years ago

Two weeks ago they started building and while I was watch the progress I thought this company (or companies) who owns the tents must be so happy with all the events on the Green Point Common :)

as soon as one event is over, the next one requires a set up of different temporary buildings .
