Happy New Year From Joanne

There was so much wind tonight, we couldn't go to the beach  like we usually do at midnight, with a bag of glasses and champagne ofcourse. Instead we went up to the roof terrace....
its where I took this shot from BTW the stadium was not even lit up like in that shot .....
to watch the fireworks but there was no way I could photograph anything because of the strong South Easterly wind and the mountains were shrouded in clouds as well So just a quick pick from the past few months for tonight

Hope this is going to be a good year for all of us and may the World Cup bring allot of good fortune and good will to South Africa

2009 Grand Finale: Cape Town and stadium as seen walking along Table Mountain Road

Hope you have a great New Years Eve

I will be spending it with a group of friends in Milnerton
and hope to catch the fire works over Cape Town at midnight

Pity I need to use a huge FromJoanne signature but I noticed some bloggers using my images, small enough so that no one can read the blog address and then they "forget" to mention that they do not own that image

so I will print my signature clearer instead of discreet as I used to do

These photos are from the walk along the disused Table Mountain road last saturday
unfortunately it started raining during my shoot

The purpose of the inaugural event is to test the readiness of the stadium, its systems and processes.A maximum of 20 000 tickets will be sold via Computicket for this event, it will be more than a football game as there will be participation from local musicians and artists Like "Freshly Ground"

V& A Waterfront
You can see the green lit up Waterfest stage and the stream of tourist charter boats returning from their sunset cruise

"Navios Happiness"enters Cape Town Harbour

V&A Waterfront on Monday night Johnny Clegg played again for the Waterfest
btw I could hear him clearly sing last saturday during my shoot, while I was high up on the old Table Mountain road

This is what I am going to attend :
The second event scheduled for the stadium is the Cape Town Stadium Rugby Festival featuring the Boland Invitational 15 against Vodacom Stormers. This game will also host a match between the S. A. 10’s Legends vs an International 10’s legends as a curtain raiser for the main game.

This is ofcourse the same image as at the top but i edited this one in Picasa and the top one in Picnik and now I am not sure ..
which one do you prefer ?

Misty aerial night shot of new World Cup Stadium in Cape Town from Table Mountain

It was 7.30  pm by the time I was on Table Mountain
It was cloudy and grey the city was lying in a haze
but  I was there to shoot the lights so wasn't that fazed by it, enjoying the view tremendously I always feel so alive when I am up there :) but by the time it was dark to my dismay it started drizzling as well,
however it did give an eery feeling to my photos ...
by the time I was ready shooting it was 9 PM

and when I turned to go home this is what Table Mountain looked like
Do not worry I had an armed guard with me yet even so... I walked fast
to get to my car !
More tomorrow...
