Cape Town Stadium black out See what Earth Hour looked like in Green Point, Cape Town

They started off with the lights on inside and the roof as well, then the lights were all switched off which was weird to see

after the hour of darkness was finished they switched on all the lights. Incidently they are whipped on in a second

and for the first time in ages all the edge lights were switched on as well

then when I looked up from my laptop I saw half the lights were again switched off

Misty aerial night shot of new World Cup Stadium in Cape Town from Table Mountain

It was 7.30  pm by the time I was on Table Mountain

 It was cloudy and grey the city was lying in a haze

but  I was there to shoot the lights so wasn't that fazed by it, enjoying the view tremendously I always feel so alive when I am up there :) but by the time it was dark to my dismay it started drizzling as well,

however it did give an eery feeling to my photos ...

by the time I was ready shooting it was 9 PM

and when I turned to go home this is what Table Mountain looked like

Do not worry I had an armed guard with me yet even so... I walked fast

 to get to my car !

The restaurant terrace of the Radisson Blue hotel, which you can just see a glimpse of at the end of the pier, is a great place to have your weekend breakfast,or go for a leisurely lunch and I mean leisurely.... since the service is  s l o w but the food is delicious, or if you dont mind a packed terrace and fighting for a drink at the crowded bar go for a sundowner it is very very popular on nice evenings

4 days to go to the "Final Draw ", 2010 WC Cape Town Soccer Stadium on the last night in November

On Dec 4th at 7 PM local time the "Final Draw" kicks off in Cape Town, the start of the World Cup 2010 event

The world will turn its attention to the Mother City like never before. The 2010 FIFA World Cup™ final draw show will be broadcast from the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) to millions of viewers across the globe. Many high-profile visitors from all corners of the world will attend the event itself. I am a few days away from Cape Town and will not be able to show Stadium updates till Monday

but tomorrow I will show some shots from  Pezula Resort Hotel in Knysna where the French team will be staying in 2010

The shots are from a couple of days ago especially in the top image you can see the metal needs a lick of paint

We are experiencing extremely strong gusts of wind at the moment to give you an idea of the dust I took this shot a few hours ago, you can clearly see the dust being kicked up, its one of the reasons the mesh facade got dirty so quickly, the other reasons is the heavy trucks racing up and down the dirt road near the stadium I can often not shoot because of all the dust in the air.

Now that the cranes are gone, bar one, its allot darker at night and they keep the left side of the stadium where the first strips of mesh membrane are attached in darkness, either by design or because they cant work there at night

What started as a R1.2bn stadium project in February 2006, has now quadrupled to a R4.4bn budget-balancing exercise and the city could need an extra R660m for the rest of the project.

And if the city does not get this additional income from external funding sources, the money will have to come from council coffers and ratepayers' pockets.

I gave this image the Orton treatment I hope you like it

Orton Effect technique is named after a Vancouver Island’s photographer Michael Orton. He took one very sharp photo, deliberately blurred another identical one, overexposed both of them and merged them together to get this dreamy, impressionistic image. He used traditional film but we can do the same thing in
editing program

When I took these shots last weekend it was hazy again and soon after, the clouds rolled in and by the time I arrived home it was drizzling

From left to right Devils Peak, Table Mountain, Signal Hill, Lions Head, Twelve Apostles and as far as I know the last ones on the right are the Hottentot Holland Mountain range

I remember seeing a similar shot 2 years ago with a mock up of the stadium , which was about half the size of Signal Hill, allot of people seeing those kind of images were very concerned that it would ruin this beautiful view of the Cape Town and Table Mountain skyline
Well as you can see it was scaremongering, its hard to find the stadium in these photos
