World Cup Cape Town Stadium: Rain stops play

It will be a while before they can work during the night again

the weather has been dreadful today horizontal rain and gale force wind

Weather forecast is bad... apart from a dry Tuesday... It is not good until next saturday !

What it looked like today ....

I saw 1 man on the roof he was there just briefly checking things ..

for the rest of the day there was no activity on the Stadium itself, there was some movement on the ground though

White capped waves crashing on the shore, grey skies, rain, wind....not very inviting to go out for a shoot

but hopefully tomorrow

The reason the grass on this fairway looks brown, is that they just scarified the grass to make it stronger , on the right of the image you can just see half of the heap of scarified grass .

But the "greens" are greening up nicely
They were sown with grass seeds then covered with plastic and now look already nice and green

A boat trip past the stunning new 2010 WC Green Point Stadium in Cape Town

Just past Granger Bay and the Radisson hotel here

And so a few days ago I went on the Whale Watcher boat the Motor cruiser "Condor" it left at 6.30, which is later then the other tourist charter boats, so I had only about half an hour shooting time before it was too dark

The skipper and crew were very helpful after requesting to go close to the stadium but my first shots were straight into the sun and unfortunately there was a water spot on my lens

so I discarded them but here is the rest

Cape Town, the mother city, the gorgeous city I live in

Here is a good example of how grey the facade of the stadium can look in certain lights and from certain angles, this is after the sun is down, it was not by any means a spectacular sunset, no colourful sky and  so no golden facade, it was a bit of an anti climax ...

Allthough I thouroughly enjoyed this trip, it is not great for photographing but fantastic to see Cape Town's night lights.

Sanding and painting the new Green Point Stadium in Cape Town

I am a few days away from Cape Town and will not be able to show Stadium updates till Monday

but tomorrow I will show some shots from  Pezula Resort Hotel in Knysna where the French team will be staying in 2010

The shots are from a couple of days ago especially in the top image you can see the metal needs a lick of paint

I was on my way shopping but decided to get a few quick shots too see what the patchwork looks like up close and I was actually standing behind "Wakame" Restaurant for these shots, which is the building right next to the ocean, on the left hand side of  THIS photo

This was just before I left the house when I noticed they were closing the gap
