I will upload some videos of this event tomorrow it really brings it alive

The performers are the learners at Filia School about  200 children, some of whom have quite severe disabilitiesThey were performing their concert - called "Laduma".

'Laduma!' is the South African equivalent to 'Goal!' and literally means 'it thunders' in Zulu.

It has been pouring for days until this morning ...We had a dry day today
but no sun until late afternoon

The VIP Area

If it had been a blue sky you would have seen Table Mountain from here

I was not supposed to be here ofcourse :) Fifa has closed off all the area's which they already control
but then if I don't go to all these forbidden places how the heck can I show you what is going on ?
Part of the stadium has been handed over already, the rest will be handed over in a couple of days

When I came home I saw allot of men on top of the roof
Not sure what they are doing though

BTW it was not my day Lots went wrong I will not bore you with all of it but
one of my lenses was playing up and even blogger is being obstinate tonight !

The church and the stadium in Green Point, Cape town

Took this shot from the church premises
This was the first time I saw it up close

and I had to really wiggle myself into the right position to get this shot of the church
and Stadium peeping out To my shame I did not really look what the church is called but seem to recall something like St Mary's Church

It proves quite hard to take photos in Green Point , the streets are so narrow

Sunday october 11 2009 World Cup Green Point Stadium images Another facade strip of PVC mesh is attached

Midday October 11
The 8th PVC facade strip on the West side is about to be put up

By mid afternoon the strip is up
Note the weather today.. it was warm but not very sunny

Its only 4.15 PM but it looks like its evening. The blue roof is the Table Bay Hotel in the V&A Waterfront
The first time I came to Cape Town I stayed in this hotel (Company paid ) and my corner room which was high up, was facing Signal Hill and my current house, I obviously then had no idea I would ever live here one day

6 o'clock
The sky has cleared up and I am debating if I should drive up closer or maybe go up Signal Hill but then nature decides for me.. it clouds over and turns grey again so instead I pour myself a glass of wine and shoot from the comfort of my home  :)

Sanding and painting the new Green Point Stadium in Cape Town

I am a few days away from Cape Town and will not be able to show Stadium updates till Monday
but tomorrow I will show some shots from  Pezula Resort Hotel in Knysna where the French team will be staying in 2010

The shots are from a couple of days ago especially in the top image you can see the metal needs a lick of paint

I hope the Green Point Stadium will not look like a grey blob on the horizon

Two more cranes came down today
This was at 19.00 PM this evening
At 18.00 PM a little bit of blue sky after a grey cool day
I fervently hope and pray that this is not it.... that they are going to attach another PVC mesh on the outside of the frame because I think these grey sheets look like dirty washing, it will look awful
SLR Canon EOS 450D and EFS 17-85 mm lens (the only one I own)

Took this at around 17.30 PM I drove past the stadium to see if they had sorted the wrinkles yet
but there is obviously a problem.. now there is a gap held together by ropes...
Unfortunately and upsettingly I knocked over my tripod with my Canon PS 5S IS, which was my baby, it could do everything except cook, unfortunately they dont sell it anymore and so I am now on the waiting list (Arrives beginning october in Cape Town)
Canon Powershot SX20 IS Super Zoom
it also has a good video
It is the closest to my broken only 1 year old Canon 5S IS
its cheaper to buy the SX20 camera for close ups then buying a new lens for my SLR Cam

BTW THE photoshop here in Cape Town is called  ORMS

More then half of the clear glass on the roof of the new 2010 Green Point Stadium is now installed

I am getting rather fed up mentioning it, but sadly it was another hazy day
Its Sunday night , the only night in the week when there is no visible activity on the stadium

A few more glass panels on the roof of the 2010 Green Point Stadium and its finnished

I have been dying to go up Signal Hill to shoot the roof, anxious to be in time before its completed but with the haze it was no use. This afternoon I took my chance because tomorrow 80% chance of rain forecast

Fog On Signal Hill

Just to satisfy my curiosity ;) which of the 2 do you prefer ?
Strange.. I had published my blogpost last night but it wasnt here this morning.. it is now ;)

Believe it or not this was the second time in a row this weekend that I went up Signal Hill to shoot the new 2010 Green Point stadium from above at sunset when something spoiled my fun This evening it was sudden fog even though I had left Green Point bathing in sunshine
but 19 minutes later when I was back at home again I shot the photo below The fog was just high up Signal Hill

I almost hit a whole flog of guineafowl you can see them next to the road which is the road up Signal Hill

Cape Town Tourism launches dedicated 2010 Cape Town website

My Stadium images were used for the photo gallery and slide show on the new 2010 mini website

I know I am not the only Capetonian, who is hugely impressed with the speed this construction was stamped out of the ground and I am imensely proud to be able to show off this beautiful new Cape Town stadium to the rest of the world

The 2 photos here on the blog show the difference a year makes and so far the completion date is still on target: December 14
Around 2000 construction workers worked flat out and often during the night

I have been asked if I can hear the noise from the construction but thankfully I can't inside the house but if the wind comes from that side, I can hear a distant noise but only when I am outside which isn't bothering me

The video of last nights laser show illuminating the Green Point Stadium is here on my Youtube site
I know I am in need of a "How to make videos and editing tips"
Also the camera picks up the slightest noise, listening to the video I heard crickets chirping which I never noticed before !
