This was taken after a few hours being at a party in Sunset Beach tonight

In reality the view was awesome

you can just see the stadium on the right

Even thought the keys were handed over today to the City of Cape Town

the work on the facade is by no means finished

All around still hard at work

They were testing the sound and acoustics again today

it is very loud, even though the sound is supposed to be contained you can hear it all over Green Point
 but so far thankfully the music has been nice.

This was the amazing sight I saw when very briefly the sun came out, it was an extremely dull colourless sunset but my tripod and camera  were set up on the terrace while I was watering my planters so I immediately dashed off and captured it just in time

I decided not to edit this image Its straight from my camera

The facade is almost finished

there is still a half strip ..apart from this one.....missing on the right

 which we cant see from here

and then about 10.15 while I was editing mu photos of today I suddenly heard fireworks and again this time I had to dash upstairs where my camera was set up and change the lens as well so I only got the last few bits

This was the last big bang

there was so much exploding at the same time its a bit blown out

And so another day in the life of our new stadium has passed

FIFA Executive Committee holds historic meeting on Robben Island

South Africa's Dream is about to begin... 1 day to go to the Final Draw

I happened to be on a boat when the Fifa Executive Comittee returned from Robben island around 5 o"clock

on 5 different boats

It was an eventful trip this is Sol kerzner's  "One and Only" toy

While we were waitng for our turn to enter the V&A Waterfront basin

I was so excited to spot this fish

I have no idea what its called but it was huge !

I have now been told that it is the ocean sunfish, Mola mola, or common mola, its the heaviest known bony fish in the world. It has an average adult weight of 1,000 kg !
(2,200 lb)

And then there was almost a disaster happening in full view of the Fifa Commitee, the "Sarah Baartman" had a pilot on board but she almost rammed the quay, our own skipper saw it coming, even from the angle we were at, it was obvious that she wasn't going to make it through the channel
All thrusters were going full force and she just stopped short of the Quay

 There was tremendous activity in the skies above the Common today
Lots of helicopters.. I assume some VIPs were shown the night lights of Cape Town
and what a sight it was again with a red rising moon this time
and by the way the facade on the Sea side of the Stadium is finnished
its just a few more strips on this side and a halfstrip on the East side
Pity they didn't quite make it for the FianlDraw but who cares its a beauty at night and so imposing during the day !

Oh and there was a big military helicopter which kept circling around,
then at 10 PM the military jet flew over a few times
and there was a Navy ship patrolling between Robben island and Green Point

The "Sea Princess"  as you can see doesn't care too much about the environment

Breathtaking view of WC 2010 Cape Town Stadium lit up under a full moon

Tonight a full moon lit up the scenery beautifully around the almost finnished Cape Town Stadium

Another strip of the facade was attached on this side of the stadium

This is the awe inspiring view from the new-ish restaurant on the Delaire Graff Estate estate

which includes a hotel to be opened beginning 2010

owned by the British billionaire Laurence Graff of Graff Diamonds International

I was lucky to have been invited for a 3 course lunch and although I have been to quite some wine estates

this South African farm on the Helshoogte Pass outside Stellenbosch beats  all others on sheer luxury stunning architecture and art Thankfully I didnt have to foot the bill since the prices are steep

2009 Clipper Round The World yacht race and the 2010 World Cup Cape Town Stadium on Sunday Nov 22 2009

A dramatic start to Race 4 of Clipper 09-10 in Cape Town saw eight of the boats cross the start line for the 4,700-mile race to Geraldton, Western Australia, while a collision between Hull & Humber and Cork resulted in the two teams returning to harbour. None of the crew were hurt and the Race Director and the shore team are now assessing the damage to Hull & Humber’s port aft quarter and Cork’s bow.

Cape Town has proved a huge hit with the crews who have enjoyed climbing Table Mountain – and abseiling down its sheer granite rock face – visiting Robben Island, the gardens at Kirstenbosch. And a few even had the chance to take an exclusive, behind the scenes tour of the brand new Cape Town Stadium which is being built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Today NOV 17 I saw a trailer with huge concrete slabs in front of that opening

 I assumed they were using those to build something inside the stadium

Here is the evidence they were there !

Who stole the horizontal bars of the facade structure ?

Working on the WC Soccer 2010 Cape Town Stadium on Sunday night Nov 15

There is a very very strong South Easter blowing and to my suprise they are working on the facade on the West side Usually they dont work on a sunday night but it is less then 1 month from now that the stadium is supposed to be handed over

I was standing at the top of these steps, as far as I know they call it "skyway" in Cape Town

when I looked down and away from my camera, I saw this guy coming up

It is one of those moments I dont hang around

but jump in my car

Not much to report other then that we had incessant rain till after 6 PM

 there was some activity around the stadium

weather permitting There is gale force wind and rain forecast ...

not easy to capture since the middlle part kept being blown out whatever setting I used

It is an amazing sight but there is allot of light polution which I thought that wouldn't be the case but then they are not finnished yet

I am sure allot of Green Point people didn't realise the lights were on

I drove past the back (Atlantic side) at 9 PM and saw nothing out of the ordinary
when I drove up to my house I almost died at seeing the sight of the all lit up stadium
at first I immediately stopped my car to start shooting ... my cam and my tripod are always with me ..
I was so afraid they would switch them off before I was able to capture it :) but for safety reasons I drove home and although
I had not had dinner yet either I dropped everything and started shooting

Of course it then takes a few hours to choose and edit the photos
by the time I went to bed it was well after midnight but the lights were still blazing
When I closed the curtains I saw smoke coming off the roof and thought; OMG its not on fire ?


So again I whipped out my camera to shoot but that was all..... just clouds of smoke from time to time, no flames.Haven't seen or edited those images yet
