Have you been in Tsitsikamma ?

Then you remember this view I just caught it as the light was fading rapidly
The flowering aloes are everywhere at the moment adding a stunning splash of colour to the landscape
This is the view you get to see while crossing the Tsitsikamma suspension bridge on the left into a deep gorge
I am using a 3G "wireless" internet connection since I am often in the bush or no where near internet and last night I spend an hour trying to upload these 3 photos but eventually had to give up so excuse me if I cant reply to your comments as soon as I wish I do apreciate it so much when you take the time to leave a comment

Can you help to get Table Mountain named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature?

There is a road, Tafelberg Road which gets you to the Cable Car Station but if you keep following it, you will find it closed off to cars because the road isn’t in good condition, there are points where it's falling away and there are rocks which have fallen onto the road but the views are stupendous and its great for cycling, jogging or walking, it winds all around Table Mountain until it meets Devil's Peak (about 10 km's) then the tarred road becomes a gravel track which will take you around the mountain towards the Southern Suburbs
I found it to be rather busy around sunset which means I might dare venture there on my own on good weather days

I read that Table Mountain climbed to number five in the New 7 Wonders of Nature global rankings on Monday June 8 rocketing 24 places from its previous position of 2of the week before . It is now officially ahead of legendary mountains such as Mount Everest, K2 Mountain and Mount Kilimanjaro.
Table Mountain itself is so beautiful, rich in flora and fauna with pretty waterfalls and ponds the mountain is just incredible either to look at it or to be on it or to see the view from it, it deserves to be one of the new 7 wonders, at one time I even considered to run a blog just about Table Mountain but that was before the Stadium bug bit me :) maybe one day ...

The New 7 Wonders of Nature will be determined by votes from South Africans and foreigners who can show their support for the Mother City's majestic mountain by visiting Vote for Table Mountain
Please cast your vote if you haven't done so yet !

I always get excited when I see clouds it almost always means we get an awesome sunset Last night was not disappointing :) it was so mild what a lovely evening I saw many people dining outside

The tall building on the left is the Ritz hotel which is a 2 minutes drive from my home

Table Mountain and Lions Head

Although the Green Point Stadium is 55 meter high at its highest point, it looks very small here

Construction work on the 2010 world cup soccer Green Point Stadium isabout 70% complete

Construction work on the Green Point Stadium is about 70% complete, and is on track for completion in December this year less then 400 days ahead of schedule !

The major concrete work has been completed, and only finishes to the structure, such as external cladding, cabling, seating and lighting, need to be completed.

The focus of construction work at present is the state-of-the-art roof structure, which has been designed to meet strict environmental constraints. The roof slopes inwards and incorporates the pitch lighting, making both of these invisible from the outside. It is also designed to minimise noise and disturbance in the surrounding areas.

The inner tension ring and outer compression ring of the roof have been installed, and the installation of the steel roof trusses is halfway to completion.

The first panels of the glass roof have also been installed.
Construction of the roof is progressing well and is scheduled for completion in September this year

The road up Signal Hill, Cape Town

I live on the Atlantic side of Signal Hill but the entrance to this road is from the city its only 10 minutes from my home then another 5 minutes to the top
I stopped along the way and turned back to take the Table Mountain with the cloud
few minutes later stopped again to take the road shot
Some people walk up but there are also hikers, cyclers and joggers some run with their dog
This is the top road I usually shoot from this bend in the road since you get the Green Point Common and stadium ,the Atlantic ocean with Robben island to the left then the whole city of Cape Town Devils Peak and Table Mountain on the right The scenery is so vast, there is no way one shot can take it all in I am used to it now but in the beginning I almost died with excitement The below shot is from April 2009
May 13 2009
They are working frantically on the roof as I am writing ...I see many more men then usually because there is severe weather forecast, its going to rain the whole weekend

This is a view of the redevelopment of the Green Point Common The vision for the urban park is to create a quality multi-purpose open space and sports complex that will accommodate a range of sports codes and sporting facilities. It will also cater for limited informal trading and a range of other recreational pursuits for inner city residents. The sporting codes include soccer, golf, athletics, rugby, cricket, tennis and bowls.
Thank God its a beautiful sunny friday morning in Cape Town !

The golfcourse with water features is well under way several greens are already grassed over They took off the top grass layer of the old Golf course which will quickly regrow again, this way they create instant fairways and greens
