Oh the Cape Town Stadium is looking very weird now !

Those were the words of one of my 10 guests tonight

Believe it or not I was hosting a braai (barbeque to the rest of the world)

and it was pouring with rain but it didn't matter we still had fun inside

and during a quiet moment I nipped upstairs to take these shots

More and more lights are lit up around the stadium

almost every night I notice something new has been added

Note the row of green lights in front of the stadium are new

There was an insane wind blowing

 a strong South East wind known here as the Cape Doctor

since it blows away the pollution

Being sand blasted in Big Bay was no fun so returned and had dinner somewhere else

A completed WC 2010 Cape Town Stadium as seen from the top of Signal Hill

As mentioned yesterday, while I took these images the sound system was being tested

I don't know what music it was but it sounded incredible beautiful

and a Little eerie

for a minute I thought I had arrived in  heaven :)

The brand new virgin white PVC sheets will soon be dirty like the rest of the facade In fact on Friday there is a strong South Easterly forecast and that will do the trick

You will not believe the amount of dust clouds I see whirling around the stadium and the Green Point Common when there are strong winds

Its been a while since I saw the stadium in the mist

and never ofcourse with the lights on and almost completed

Today I was lucky to have been invited for lunch to the Seaforth Restaurant in Simon's Town, adjacent to the Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach

in Simon:s Town

And afterward had a coffee with a view ...

No fireworks from the Cape Town Stadium on the Final Draw" night

Well since I was hosting a "Final Draw" party at home I didn't have the time to attend to my blog That was a first btw so the above image is from this morning As another PVC panel is being attached

There was precious little activity around the stadium or Green Point yesterday apart from the military helicopter and jet cruising around in the sky and the rest you saw on TV :)

The stadium was lit since they were working through the night but not as fully lit as on some other nights

 I suppose they didn't want to take all the "shine" away from next year

Its always interesting to watch the traffic passing Robben island

and when I saw the Seven Seas Voyager passing I drove to the Waterfront to capture her docking

since I had to do my weekly shopping anyway

Here she comes and its a tight fit

there were loads of people watching

even though we get plenty of cruise ships this is a big one

Seven Seas Voyager is a cruise ship for Regent Seven Seas Cruises.  Every cabin on board is a suite with a balcony. In 2006, a Forbes.com article listed the Asia leg of the Voyager's world cruise as the most expensive cruise in the Asia region

Amazing Facade progress on Southside of World Cup 2010 Cape Town Stadium in Green Point

Sorry for the boring images recently guys but haven't been well this last week

 so this was my first outing again

I was amazed at the progress especially since a freighter sunk with a container of facade material on board

(they retrieved it but its delayed a little
I didn't expect them to be this far already !

but stood just in the one spot till dusk

Allot of activity going on I would have loved to zoom in but couldn't use my telezoom because of the

strong gusts of wind rocking my tripod

I could hardly tear myself away from it

It looked so gorgeous

They jumped and whoopee'd when I asked them to pose but they were in a hurry and so was I

 so only had one go at them Sorry guys I wish I had flashed it but I am not used to photographing people and it was such a dreary day but thanks for the smiles !

Somewhere, over the rainbow There's a land where they've the most beautiful Cape Town Stadium

After some sun I could see a rain storm coming in from the West

 it moved fast to the East, leaving a clearing in the sky and suddenly the most magnificent rainbow appeared which got better and better

Two more strips have been added and they took off the whole strip which was damaged

They didn't even try and  repair it

Minutes before midnight and they are still at it, I suppose they are taking advantage of the calm weather working through the night The facade is supposed to be finnished by December 4th but it doesn't look like they will make the deadline

Frankly I am mesmerised by the sight of the stadium with all the lights on

I can 't stop watching it

and they are still adjusting the lights see how the roof colour is allot mellower now

The strip on the left is obviously damaged but I have reason to believe that the empty hole on the right also used to have a strip which is now gone The evidence is the piece still hanging on and ....

To compare ..

As you can see the stadium is now heavily guarded but dressed in  my camouflage suit ( similar to Colonel Muammar Qaddafi ) and armed with my new Canon telephoto lens, he was easy to tackle.

  Yes dear reader/voyeur, I hope you realise I go to great length to bring you "uptodate" photo news, of our already much loved but battered new 2010 World Cup stadium in Cape Town 

I had actually already been up Signal Hill at 4.30 PM but the mist was closing in and it started to rain while I drove up, so I shot a couple for the hell of it, then went home and had an early dinner.

 I saw the sky clearing up again and decided to drive to the Stadium to check the damage of last night
  After I shot the above pix I drove up Signal Hill again :) but by the time I arrived it was dark

I just saw them now, raw from the camera and I think there will be some you will like

but  I will show those tomorrow, still need to edit them, for now I will try and get a decent night sleep tonight
