Cape Town Stadium,Green Point as seen from Summit of Table Mountain at sunset

I took advantage of the special cable car offer form 6pm to 8Pm you pay R80 I
loved the trip but I can imagine less then 2 hours is a little too short for most

You can walk all around the summit, it would take you a few hours
but I stayed mostly on one side

Tthe highest sundowner spot in the Mother City.

Lions Head and (the body of the lion) Signal Hill

Cape Town city bowl and V& A Waterfront with the new Cape Town Stadium

Hope you enjoyed seeing these as much as I did taking them
It is pouring with rain as I write this
I was surprised to see that they switched on all the roof spot lights again earlier this evening
there is still allot of light spilling out  They are still adjusting them and it is getting better

World Cup Venue Green Point Stadium Officially renamed "Cape Town Stadium"

What I read today :
Table Mountain Aerial Cableway's renowned Summer Sunset Special starts on Sunday November 1, 2009 and runs until Sunday February 28, 2010. For four months visitors pay half price (R80) after 6pm to travel to the highest sundowner spot in the Mother City. "
and so I lost no time and here is my booty

BTW it is official now , the Cape Town City Council has approved 'Cape Town Stadium' as the official name for the city's 2010 World Cup facility .
More from my Table Mountain shoot tomorrow

Shot this at 6.20 PM from the cable car.
Sunset was 7.15

When I arrived at 15 to 6 (was stuck in traffic) there was a queue :(
I thought you could buy tickets before hand but no they weren't selling tickets until 6PM ! So I was not in the first car up  if you want to avoid that then come early so you are first in the queue

Green Point with the Ritz hotel on left and Robben Island
To give you a sense of how high this was

The road you see down there is the Road I drive up when I want to take shots from the top of Signal Hill
the top is onward to the right, but out of this shot

When it is time to catch the last car down, just before 8 PM  they sound a loud siren
I was a little afraid I would miss it, since I get so engrossed in my photography :) but there was no chance to not hear that siren

When you get outside the cable car station, it is pitch dark, there are no street lights, not very safe, I was alone and had parked my car down the road a bit before I arrived at the station (it is always packed with cars)
It was a little scary to walk there in pitch darkness and not many people around, thankfully the criminals were having dinner

The 2010 Cape Town Stadium was too beautiful for words tonight

The moonlight  on the sea and the exceptional warm clear night, all combined to a breath taking sight
and we had the most gorgeous sunset this evening but unfortunately I was driving on the N1 toward Cape Town and couldn't take any photos but my my, what a sight ! The sky was on fire and with the silhouette of the mountains it was just eye watering beautiful

I was at the Radisson Blue  Hotel again this weekend
its from the Granger Bay marina

With my wide angle lens I need to choose, to either have the mountains in the shot + half stadium, or half the mountains and the whole stadium

2010 Green Point Stadium and the Green Point Common

There is a hell of a wind again kicking the dust up on the Green Point Common and golf course

Note that although the watering system is spraying water around, the fairway already looks brown

Not spectacular but still beautiful to watch with a glass of wine in your hand
I liked the moon here and yes Helen it is definitely a full moon this time!

New 2010 Green Point Stadium on a sunny Saturday afternoon

Canon Powershot SX20 IS
Do you think the row of men are just sitting there admiring the view ? :)
Or why do they sit like that ?

Two more strips have been added and they took off the whole strip which was damaged
this one on the left
They didn't even try and  repair it

Canon EOS 450D
Minutes before midnight and they are still at it, I suppose they are taking advantage of the calm weather working through the night The facade is supposed to be finnished by December 4th but it doesn't look like they will make the deadline
