Cape Town Stadium Mist Rain Fog and another facade strip is being replaced

Weird and wonderful

Three Anchor Bay
It looked spooky

Note the green lights on the right
they had not switched those on for ages

I drove by today
and was surprised to see another strip of the facade has been taken off

I got out of my car to take these shots and when I turned on my heels ...

this is what I saw
Not spectacular but beautiful nevertheless

This morning I woke up to mist and drizzle

The first soccer match will be played in the breathtaking beautiful new Cape Town Stadium on Saturday 23January, 2010

The Mother City’s two professional teams Ajax Cape Town and Santos will play in the first sports event to be held, in this gorgeous brand new stadium, on Saturday 23 January 2010. The Cape Town Soccer Festival
The purpose of the inaugural event is to test the readiness of the stadium, its systems and processes.A maximum of 20 000 tickets will be sold via Computicket for this event, it will be more than a football game as there will be participation from local musicians and artists Like "Freshly Ground"

V& A Waterfront
You can see the green lit up Waterfest stage and the stream of tourist charter boats returning from their sunset cruise

"Navios Happiness"enters Cape Town Harbour

V&A Waterfront on Monday night Johnny Clegg played again for the Waterfest
btw I could hear him clearly sing last saturday during my shoot, while I was high up on the old Table Mountain road

This is what I am going to attend :
The second event scheduled for the stadium is the Cape Town Stadium Rugby Festival featuring the Boland Invitational 15 against Vodacom Stormers. This game will also host a match between the S. A. 10’s Legends vs an International 10’s legends as a curtain raiser for the main game.

This is ofcourse the same image as at the top but i edited this one in Picasa and the top one in Picnik and now I am not sure ..
which one do you prefer ?

The Diamond of Cape Town reflected in the Metropolitan golf course water feature

The 2010 FIFA Soccer Stadium Cape Town and Table Mountain during the blue hour As usual I could have stayed forever, just shooting.....but instead was there  for just over an hour

Unfortunately the sprinklers were going full speed and popping up in the most unexpected places
I would have liked to walk around the stadium but alas I was already getting damp from the spray where I was standing

World Cup Venue Green Point Stadium Officially renamed "Cape Town Stadium"

What I read today :
Table Mountain Aerial Cableway's renowned Summer Sunset Special starts on Sunday November 1, 2009 and runs until Sunday February 28, 2010. For four months visitors pay half price (R80) after 6pm to travel to the highest sundowner spot in the Mother City. "
and so I lost no time and here is my booty

BTW it is official now , the Cape Town City Council has approved 'Cape Town Stadium' as the official name for the city's 2010 World Cup facility .
More from my Table Mountain shoot tomorrow

Shot this at 6.20 PM from the cable car.
Sunset was 7.15

When I arrived at 15 to 6 (was stuck in traffic) there was a queue :(
I thought you could buy tickets before hand but no they weren't selling tickets until 6PM ! So I was not in the first car up  if you want to avoid that then come early so you are first in the queue

Green Point with the Ritz hotel on left and Robben Island
To give you a sense of how high this was

The road you see down there is the Road I drive up when I want to take shots from the top of Signal Hill
the top is onward to the right, but out of this shot

When it is time to catch the last car down, just before 8 PM  they sound a loud siren
I was a little afraid I would miss it, since I get so engrossed in my photography :) but there was no chance to not hear that siren

When you get outside the cable car station, it is pitch dark, there are no street lights, not very safe, I was alone and had parked my car down the road a bit before I arrived at the station (it is always packed with cars)
It was a little scary to walk there in pitch darkness and not many people around, thankfully the criminals were having dinner

tonight the lights are on again
I have not touched the images they are RAW and not edited

Frankly I am mesmerised by the sight of the stadium with all the lights on
I can 't stop watching it
and they are still adjusting the lights see how the roof colour is allot mellower now

The new Green Point Soccer Stadium lit by the moon

Just before I crashed in bed it was very late like 1.30 AM and bitterly cold I saw this breath taking sight
of the moon above the stadium, the moonshine on the sea, the lights of the 2 cruise ships in the harbour
the colours of the lights and a clear crisp sky

This is what it looked like 2 month ago when the cranes were still lighting the stadium at night
and this is one from 6 month ago, in rolling fog
