February updates on the Urban Park, Golf Course, Cape Town Stadium and Green Point Common

Its amazing how people think they can just steal my images even though I clearly state that they are All Rights reserved
Note how he carefully cropped my blog name off the photos !
Look here
and he is by no means the only one I did send him a message to remove my images immediately

More trees have been planted and they are making good progress with the paving
on the circular path since I was last there on Jan 15

The irrigation water for the Park and the golf course is still not linked up with the underground springs located in Oranjezicht. Apparently it will be at least another month before they can stop using potable water.

The grass on some of the Golf course greens is not knitting well
and will have to be replaced but in general the Golf course is on target to be opened on the first of April
but the opening maybe delayed due to Fifa constrains
Work is going on the new athletics track and grandstand
on the site of the old Green Point Stadium

Hamiltons Rugby club set up for the Castle Cape Town Tens

As the final countdown to the Castle Cape Town Tens continues, tickets will be on sale on sale until 1 pm at the gates at Hamilton's on Saturday and Sunday
Tickets to the Stormers-Boland match at the Cape Town Stadium - and thereby the Tens exhibition match beforehand - are sold out, BUT tickets (the so-called 'junior' Castle Cape Town Tens weekend pass) are still available for ALL the Cape Town Tens action at Hamilton's throughout the rest of the weekend.
These 'junior' weekend passes can still be bought on Computicket

What the Cape Town stadium looks like from my home on February 1 2010

Back to blogging a little later then expected,
since I came back with the flu and am still not recovered
and not strong enough to go outside yet

Hamiltons Rugby club has started to prepare for the 2010 CT Tens.

I took this on Jan 18 the night before I left for Egypt
all 360 spotlights of the "Ring of fire" were blazing away,
A rarity nowadays, since  most nights the stadium is quite dark

Just read that the Castle Lager Cape Town Tens will join CT Stadium Rugby Festival as well
as the friendly match between our local teams: Boland Inv. XV vs Stormers.
and there is live entertainment by Flat Stanley and others

This is the water course which seperates the golf course from the urban park
it is connected by narrow canals to the other water features

BTW there was no cleaning going on today (friday)
So I am still looking at a half cleaned facade

A drive to Kalk Bay then via Chapmans Peak back to Green Point

Was sight seeing today with friends who are visiting South Africa
A fantastic view toward Kalk Bay
Boyes Drive (from where this pic is taken) offers some of the best scenery in Cape Town.

Kalk Bay
is a fishing village on the coast of False Bay it is a suburb of greater Cape Town.

Kalk Bay has a buzzing fish market on the harbour
where you can watch the fishermen in traditional wooden boats bringing in their catch
like kingklip, john dory, bream, and dorado

 View of Hout Bay from
Chapmans Peak Drive, named after John Chapman who came to Cape Town in 1607. He was the mate on a British ship that was sent to Hout Bay to investigate the possibility of building a harbour there.
It's a really spectacular drive along a very narrow road with stunning views out onto the Atlantic ocean.
This road links Noordhoek to Hout Bay and Cape Town.
It was in the Foodbarn in Noordhoek where we had a great lunch
and even though it was Teusday the place was packed
but I had booked a week ago so that was ok

Tonight

This is not the most beautiful angle of the Cape Town Stadium but that is my opinion ofcourse ...

It looks grey after the sun has set and the basket shape ..
Nope this sight doesn't set my heart on fire :(

If you look at this photo thenyou will see where I was standing here
They haven't switched on those green lights for a long time.... which would have bathed this paving in green light

A sight for sore eyes ! Cape Town Stadium and the cloth on Table Mountain during sunset !

No better and no more beautiful place than Cape Town !

Why is it... that when guys see me shooting  they always feel the need to jump in front of my camera and clown around posing while I have never seen a girl do this !
I have quite a few pix of these clowns :) maybe I should start posting them !

Do click this and see it large ...
I learned from flickr that people tastes differ wildly
For example I know that some of you will find there are too many cars in this shot
but I actually like it and besides there was not much option to leave them out
the only other option was the shot example above this one

Yep I was at the Radisson Hotel  again
it was packed ofcourse its the place to watch the sunset and eachother :)

and to Daniel who asked me if I have any shots of the "closed roof"
The roof is open in the middle it means that the players will get a shower if it rains
You see ...
We have thought of everything :)

Work on the facade of the Cape town Stadium . January 7 2010

They were busy working on the facade with up to 7 cherry pickers
but no work on the 2 gaps

Camps Bay from Glen beach

I was in Camps Bay earlier this evening
unfortunately there was a sea mist all along the coast but still very beautiful and warm
